Rental vehicle in Costa Rica

Just beginning to plan a 3 week trip in Costa Rica 12/25 - mid Jan. Considering flying into San Jose and out of Liberia. Does anyone know if there is a large drop off charge with a rental car if doing this?? What is the drive time between the two airports? Thank you

Why would you be driving directly from one airport to the other?

Day of departure, Liberia is closest airport. But could drive to SJO if drop off charge is ridiculous. Route would go by Liberia, so just seemed the easiest way to ask. Sorry for the confusion.

Have you booked your tickets already? Flying in/out of SJO is probably cheaper than flying back from Liberia.

Lots of sales now for LIR because of new terminal opening publicity.
And drop-off charges vary widely from company to company.
It will take about 3 hours to drive between the airports.

We are flying into Liberia. Will visit Guanacaste area. Car will be leased from Service. We will drive south to Quepos area, then return car at SJO. No drop off fee. I looked at several car rental companies before selecting Service. Someone on this forum recommended Service. We previously rented from Tri Color at SJO. It was fine, but I think they had a dop off fee.
