Anyone used Hertz in Costa Rica
I have been researching rental cars in Costa Rica and my corporate rate for Hertz is pretty much the cheapest (I did find one company that was a little less) for what we want. I can't find any posts where anyone has used Hertz. Hertz a good company, but that is not always an assurance.
Has anyone had experience, good or bad, with Hertz in Costa Rica?

Many people here are big fans of Tricolor, a local firm. I've never heard anything, good, bad or otherwise, about Hertz in Costa Rica. I have no reason to doubt that it will be just fine.
The thing about a U.S.-name rental agency in another country is that these are often franchises that pay for the right to use the name, but may or may not provide the exact same coverage you'd get in the U.S. I have no way of knowing if that's the case with Hertz in Costa Rica. I have to believe that Hertz would not let them use the name if there were problems. I'd have no qualms about renting from them.

Have used Hertz have had no problems...few years ago.
Generally the rate a bit higher then Vamos Tricolor
But if you get a special rate go for it...
Be sure they are factoring in mandatory CR LDW
in your quote.

I got the quote from Tricolor and is a little cheaper (with like insurance, unlimited km, etc). Hertz is a "Licensee", but I'm thinking the same as you Jeff - they have a stake in their reputation.

Don't know about Hertz, but we just got back from Costa Rica last week and used Mapache rental car and we couldn't have been happier. They were very, very professional and courteous... Delivered the car on time to our hotel, paperwork was a breeze and return was a snap.

Based on reading many positive reviews, I emailed Tricolor and got a good rate for our trip coming up in April. Then, when I inquired about what the insurance covers, they stopped responding. I have now sent them three emails (the most recent 2/15), and they are no longer responding. That seems unusual and unprofessional. I'll check into quotes from Hertz and Mapache, but would similarly be interested in others' experiences, negative or positive. Thanks.
