Recommended hotels for Acapulco?
I am considering going to Acapulco with my family in October. Is that a good time to go? What are the hotels that you recommend... and why is it so special? Someone suggested Las Brisas to me or the Hyatt Regency. This will be our first time.

Thanks.

The Las Brisas is one of the most beautiful and expensive hotels/motels in Acapulco. It is more like a honeymoon destination than a family oriented location. However, if you rent a villa with your own private pool you may enjoy it. There are many rental units downtown much cheaper but you have to be careful of where you end up. The Las Brisas is quite some way from downtown whereas the Regency is much closer. October is still in the "off" season so you may be able to get a deal.

I typed in acapulco rentals into my msn search and came up with a passle of things. While Las Brisas is deffinately the best of the best, It is isolated as the other posters have said.
I loved Las Brisas--alas--too expensive for me, but with the right looking you can find villas there for $125.00US/and up.
There are plenty of staffed rentals with lovely pools and views, especially in the Playa Condesa area (Center of the bay). I stayed at La Torre de Acapulco for 3 weeks (condos)
Best,
Rita

http://www.caminoreal.com/acapulco/default_i.htm
Highly recommended I stayed there last weekend. It has several pools. on-site jetskis, waterskiing, boat rentals very private beach. There was a brochure in the room for kids program and it looked wonderful. The price was $198 a night. get an upper floor (9th floor is best)

I did some searches--Here goes--(USA-CANADA)--888-559-4329--www.brisasresorthotel.com--email-brisas@brisas.com.mx--that done--
I'd live there if I wasn't on Social Security. If you tell them you saw a special rate of $95/dayUS or {Mexico's Holiday Breeze Casita with private pool) for $238/day you might be surprised.
But, if you type (acapulco rentals) into your msn search box (NOT YOUR ADDRESS BOX) you'll find quite a few "casitas and villas" in The Las Brisas area. Also look for places in the Playa Condesa area.
If you need a discreet houseboy, I'm the ticket!
Best wishes and please let me know what happens.
Vince ([email protected])

If you are going with kids, stay at the Acapulco Princess, if adults only, consider its sister resort, Pierre Marques. Both are Fairmont Hotels now and you get access to facilities at both (a shuttle runs back and forth between the two). We liked the resorts very much and were glad that we did not stay right in the city.

My husband and I had a wonderful vacation at the Camino Real Acapulco Diamante. Its a smaller hotel (about 150 or so rooms) and overlooks the scenic Bay of Puerto Marqués. It is in a newer development away from downtown (is it important to be downtown (?) then its something to consider I suppose-but its an easy taxi ride away). The rooms were great, with lovely views from the deck and the service was excellent. The pools are very nice and never crowded (we were there in Dec.)We would definitely go back...

You have to stay at the Mayan Palace on Playa Diamante which is the best area in Acapulco and is closest to the airport. This is a huge resort with one on the longest pools (one mile) and the food for one week cost $100.00 per person. Top of the line meals and entertainment and lots of things for the kids. I highly recommend this hotel. We stayed there in May 2002.

The fiesta Americana Condessa . Get a corner room on Ocean Side. These have wrap deck and windows that leave you feeling like you are suspended over the ocean. A super pool. Do not go at spring spreak or Xmas for there are to many kids. It is walking distance to shopping areas and restaurants tho I understand it is now All Inclusive.
Pool is one of those suspended on a cliff where you hang over looking down at the beach or out to the ocean.
