quick trip to Mexico

My wife and I are looking to set up a 4 or 5 night package trip to Mexico. Someplace relaxed but near enought o nightlife to visit if we want to. Where should we stay and who should we book with for a package?

Okay...so maybe a little more detail is in order...
We are looking for beaches, will probably want to leave this week and stay for 4 or 5 nights.

For a short trip, I think it depends what part of the states (or Canada) you're flying from. If you're from the west coast I'd probably head to Puerto Vallarta or Zihuatanejo. If you're in the midwest or further east, I'd head to Playa del Carmen, Tulum, or Isla Mujeres. If you're into more of a party scene, you could look into Cancun. I don't do packages, mostly because they don't offer the small properties I like to stay at, and I have to drive four hours to get to Chicago to do a charter flight. Apple and Funjet seem to get decent reviews for the most part.

Good point. Coming from back east I would substitute Playa del Carmen, for my PV recommendation above.

Thanks for the starting info. We would be departing from SFO.

You can get nonstop flights to Puerto Vallarta from San Francisco (that's often where I transfer on my flights). You might check some of the travel magazines for tour package ideas. Budget Travel has a monthly "40 Best Bets" feature that often has a PV option or two.

Also you might check on your own. Because I stay in the budget hotels in the old town and travel solo, I have never found a package that beats what I can book on my own.
