Anytime is a good time to go to Vallarta in my book! That said, it is VERY VERY hot & humid this time of year. The rain is normally brief and dramatic. Thunderstorms at night. Or a downpour then clearing up.

Any other questions, ask away. I have spent a lot of time in PV.

Is it still a good place to visit with it raining

We've been there a couple of times in August and typically it rains late afternoon and at night. Mornings were OK except it was of course really humid.

It's not bad unless there's a hurricane offshore.

By the way the airfare is only 242 with taxes

That's because it's hurricane season and it rains almost every day

I disagree about hurricane season. Historically they rarely come into the Bay of Banderas, where PV is located. I think there has been 1 time a storm hit land in the past 50 years. I would not let that keep you away.

Suze, do many of the restaurants take holiday now? I'm planning to go end of August, but wondering if the town "shuts down" a bit due to the season
thx

Jim... A few maybe, certainly not enough to spoil your trip. I have not been down in August myself but was there as recently as June this year.

There is a very active PV discussion group at www.tripadvisor.com if you'd like to read or post more. Go to the "Forums" section not the hotel reviews part.
