Puerta Vallarta vs. Los Cabos

I'm having difficulties deciding where to go. The Four Seasons Resort in Punta Mita, right outside of Puerta Vallarta or the One & Only Palmilla, right outside of Los Cabos. Is one hotel more preferable than the other? Which place in Mexico is better, Puerta Vallarta or Los Cabos? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

IMO PV is still Mexico. Los Cabo's is San Diego South with high prices, US fast food & little of Mexican culture.

I like PV much better, but unfortunately, Punta Mita isn't right in PV, about an hour away.

I have visited Palmilla for drinks, but not stayed. It's beautiful, but I think Punta Mita would be just as nice, and in a more beautiful setting. Punta Mita probably isn't as "glitzy" or over the top as Palmilla, (I didn't like the feel of Palmilla when I visited, felt very Palm Springs, very California nouveau riche) but it is in a beautiful location.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I greatly appreciate it. I really think I'm leaning towards Puerta Vallarta after reading these comments. Judging by these posts I'm sure PV wouldn't disappoint.

There are HUGE differences in the scenery and atmosphere in the two places. Cabo is at the tip of a desert peninsula, cactus and barren land. Vallarta is lush and green and sits in the Bay of Banderas surrounded by mountains and jungle.

Your hotels are well outside my price range, but I imagine either would be fabulous.

What I love about going to Puerto Vallarta, is the city itself. Your experience staying out in Punta Mita in a 4 Seasons resort will be completely different than mine staying in downtown PV. Both are good, but nothing to compare really between the two. What would be similar is the beauty of the landscape and the friendly welcome from local people in the region.
