Thought I had posted this the other day, but never saw it in the message board, so I'll try again.

My wife and I will be traveling to PV, June 3 - 10 with 3 other couples. We are staying at the Marriott Casa Magna. A few questions: 1) I have seen recommendations to visit PV through May, as you start getting into the rainy season in mid-June. Are we taking a big chance by going in early June? 2)Our flight arrives at 10:30 pm on Saturday evening - are cabs still easy to get as this time and is it the best advice at that time of night to cross over to the other side of the street at the airport to grab a cab at that time? 3) What's the best way to get to El Centro area from the Marriott - how far/cost?

Have never been in June From what I hear if it rains it isn't all day. By the time you get into P.V. and get to the hotel and check into you room it probably won't be until at least 11:30
I'm sure the cabs will be there at that time if you want to take a ride into town. It is about 20 min cab ride into town all depending on the traffic by that time there shouldn't be much . I always take a cab It's about $5.00 American from the Marriott to town. There are some nice restaurants at the Marina that you can walk to some nights. We did. There is Portobello a great Italian which we walked to and also Buenos Aires which is an Argentian Steak House. My hsuband is a meat cutter and we always go there he says it's great quality of meat. If you would like to stop somewhere for a drink there is El Faro which is the lighthouse and take the elevator up and overlooks all of P.V. These are all within walking distance from the Marriott. As for the airport We always take the cab right from the airport it's about $15 Too much trouble lugging the luggage and we are always anxious to get to the hotel. Have a great time try and get the rooms on the Atrium side of the hotel much nicer than the other side. Have fun if you need any more info just email me [email protected]

In the rainy season it isn't often a constant downpour. More showers blow thru, or a big storm that clears up after, or at night.

Arriving the airport, I would simply take a taxi from the regulated airport booth and be on your way. You purchase a ticket from the clearly marked booth on either side of the exit doors, and are directed outside to the taxi lineup.

Crossing the pedestrian bridge may or may not save you money, and especially being your first trip, late at night, with luggage, I'd just take the regulated airport taxis. It's a short ride to your hotel.

Casa Magna Marriott is in The Marina and it will be a short taxi or bus ride to get into downtown (15 mins taxi, 30 mins bus... i'm guessing?).

I have been reading a lot of the other strings preparing for this trip and have seen a lot of great advice from each of you - especially with restaraunts and things to do in the area! I've been cut and pasting the good ideas into a single document I can take along with me on the trip!

I was glad to see the recommendation on the Argentenian steak house. Most of us going are pretty open to trying new foods, but we have one person in the party that is strictly a Midwestern Meat and Potatoes guy! He's going to be a tough one to please - so we may be sending him out to eat on his own a few times. Any other restaraunt recommendations that he may enjoy?

Most any local restaurant will offer a nice steak on the menu. Even the seafood places along the beach, etc. Lots of places make a great hamburger too. Several places to get ribs. Baked potatoes as a side are common too. Your friend will be fine, is my long-winded point!!

I agree w/Suze almost every restaurant will offer meat and potatoes and also seafood which is very abundant there. Red Snapper is excellent. There are 2 restaurants (other than the ones I prev told you about)that we go to every time
we are in P.V. they are LaPalapa which is is town right on the beach absolutely wonderful. Also Vista Grille which is located on top of a hill overlooking all of P.V. Fantastic. They are a little pricier than the other restaurants I recommended. Have a great time and let me know about your trip when you get back. Wish I was going again. Went 3 times in the past year and it is never enough. Going again in November. Love it (YOU Think???)

Thanks again - I will definitely let you know how the trip went. This is the first time we are traveling with other couples - my wife and I typically either travel alone or with our two children, but I think it will be a lot of fun to have other couples to visit and "party" with.

I agree w/you it's nice to go alone but it's always more fun when you go w/other couples especially for dinner.Have a great time.
