Playa Deal Card?

Planning to visit Playa del Carmen in June. Is the "Playa Deal Card" a good idea or has anyone even heard of it?! I saw it on the playadelcarmeninfo.com site. Thanks in advance for any info.

Part of the answer depends on how long you'll be in Playa del Carmen. Also, how many meals you'll be eating in Playa itself. We didn't get one last winter when we were there for five days. In retrospect, I think we would have saved enough to pay for it. Also, if you're going to stay in town, it might be worth booking at one of the hotels listed on that site. A four night stay will get you a 'free' card, if you book through that site. We're returning in March for four nights, and I haven't decided yet whether we'll spring for one or not. Jean

I've been to Playa the last two years, and last year my wife and I were there for 6 days and purchased the card. It more than paid for it's self. Were going back this April and were definately going to get the card again. I would'nt just book on the site to get the card. Do a little home work and try to Email the hotel you chose. My hotel was $80 to $100 dollars a day on several different sites, and I contacted the Hotel I wanted got a price then countered a price of $55 and they excepted.Do a search on that site for a hotel they have an abundace of information. Good Luck

I used the card on a short 3 night stay and STILL the card paid for itself. There are so many restaurants you can choose and we also used it for the Abyss Dive shop. Get the card if you plan on eating in the restaurants and not at an AI resort!

Thank you for all the advice! I think a card will be good for us since we are staying at the Shangri-la. I hear the dinners aren't that great.

Where would I get this card? Also, are there any reasonable hotels to stay at in this area that are nice?

There are literally dozens of small, reasonably priced hotels in Playa Del Carmen. Not big all inclusive, resorts, but smaller, more Mexican feeling hotels. This web site lists quite a few: http://www.playadelcarmen.com/

You can get information about the Playa Deal card at: http://playadelcarmeninfo.com/
