Planning girls getaway trip to CR this summer and need help!

I am taking my first trip to Costa Rica end of June-beginning of July for 5 nights. Is it better to just stay in the Arenal or jungle area for those days vs beaches considering the potentential weather? It will be a girls getaway trip for two and we are in our 30s and looking for a mix of relaxing, adventure, food and drink. Would love recommendations on resorts, excursions and itineraries on how to spend our time as it seems like getting from place to place or being located in the right area might be important to consider. Was looking at mid sized boutique hotels where we could still be around people and not super secluded or too couply but open to suggestions. Would love a place with spa and great ambience and food/drink and well located. I appreciate any advice as I have never traveled to a tropical destination during the rainy season or to Costa Rica!

With just five nights, I think staying in one location is a good idea. You may need to spend a first or last night near the airport depending on your flight times. Check Tabacon, Nayara, and The Springs Resort and Spa in the Arenal area. If you wanted a beach location instead, we like Tulemar Bungalows in Manuel Antonio.

I agree with picking one place to stay for this trip. If you do go to the Manuel Antonio( Quepos) area, also check out Si Como No or Costa Verde.

I was kind of leaning towards getting the jungle type of experience in costa rica since I have been to many other beaches previously (although its always hard to pass up a good beach when you are near) and it seems costa rica is known for that (jungle). Wondering if we stayed in the Arenal area would we be able to do the hanging bridges in Monteverde? I guess I am a little worried about transportation outside of whatever hotel we stay at and also how weather might effect which part of the country we decide to stay in. Any advice?
Thank you for the resort suggestions. They seem spot on!

There are nice Hanging Bridges right in the Arenal area, so you don't have to go to Monteverde for that unless you just have a strong desire to go there. For the most part, the nicer hotels are in Arenal; Monteverde tends to be more rustic. I wouldn't go to Monteverde unless you can spend at least two nights there. It's kind of a pain to get there on a long bumpy road so you wouldn't want to go all the way there and then turn around and come right back. Roads to the Arenal area and Manuel Antonio are in much better shape. Glad you like the resort suggestions.

No problem, happy to help. Also if you don't want to drive, you can hire a private driver through your hotel when you book it, or I can recommend a great driver Carlos Bogarin that we've used. He's with Destinos Encantados.
