Just curious. My daughter is also thinking of doing an abroad program, but it will be in May-July. She is interested in Chile. However, she is worried that because it is winter--it won't be as much fun as it might be otherwise. She is also considering Barcelona and Brussels! Any thoughts about winter in Santiago?

It was freezing (and snowy) when I was there last August.

Snow in Santiago is not at all common and that snow was very unusual. It was a particularly cold winter this year. But when the sun comes out and you see the snow covered Andes all around you, it is very beautiful. It also makes for great skiing. Winters in Santiago aren't bad at all, as it is not damp.
