Wolfiesmon,
We've never stayed in the Royal service suites ourselves, but I noticed the last time we were there (in December) that they have an enclosed area reserved at poolside for you folks. . that was new. Don't know if it was just a holiday thing or permanent. I think you will receive very fine treatment! We always felt quite pampered in the regular suites! Enjoy!

When I booked there was a $100 difference per night for royal service. You can check out their prices on the web site:

Write to Mr. Donovan Garcia at this address. He will be very good to respond and will be very helpful. He has been the front desk manager for quite some time, and I believe he would be the one who could help you.

You are right, Wolfiesmom, it explains it pretty well. I doubt that Mr. Garcia could give much more info than this site already does. I hadn't looked at it in some time. Wish I hadn't read it--the times we have spent a weekend there, we thought we were really "luxe"--without all those extra perks

ACtually the Royal Suite rooms are the same size as the regular bungalows but the furnishings are much more luxurious. At the start of this thread is my report and at the bottoms of the reports is my webshots site listing. On webshots I have photos of all three room categories: regular, Royal and Presidential. check it out to get a better idea of the rooms.

all of your feedback is great. Can you tell me what are the months to avoid in CR? We wanted to go on vaca in Aug or Sept and want sun. ALso how are the bugs at the resort? My husband freaks out about them.

Bugs aren't much of a problem. The only thing you need to watch out for if you do much beach time is little no-see-ums that really like to attach the lower leg area, especially around the ankles and feet. Good idea to use some repellant in the evenings. Although, many times we haven't and had no problems. Our daughters have had trouble with these every time they've been and not used repellant!
The rains pick up in Sept and Oct, so your best bet would be to travel in early August. This area is beautiful then. You will probably experience some afternoon rains, but there really isn't a BAD time to go to Costa Rica.

Can anyone speak to the quality of alcoholic beverages? My husband likes good Patron Tequilla and I prefer Bookers Burbon. We're from Napa Valley, CA so we're also wine snobs. Any ideas about the quality of wine/champagne? Also is the minibar included in the All Inclusive Package? If so, what's in there?

The wine in 2003 was Concha Y Toro from Chile. Not sure of the brands of alcohol that you had stated but we did get Absolut, Beefeater and Courvoisier when we asked by brand name.
