cmcfong - Thanks for the tip about the museum models.

I look forward to my trip report too. I guess that's my own private joke given that in 12 years here I have yet to do one. It really would be the time to pay it forward though, especially since info for Panama visitors is not as available info on Paris or Rome!

Stan, there were no snorklers in this group. I am a diver and based on reports from my friends who live there I did not bother to try. I have been told that the Portobello area is nice for snorkeling. Friends have recommended Scuba Panama for those who do want to dive.

Perhaps some of those who have recently visited the San Blas Islands and Bocas can add something about the snorkeling there.

Hamlet, I would say after 12 years, you are about due. I look forward to it!

Great report!

We are headed to Panama next January and your report will be very helpful. And I, too, would like to hear feedback on Boca and the San Blas islands - Anyone?

Thanks

Pamela

Pamela, look for posts by Susan in Toronto and Glover. Both of them are in Panama now and they should have some pretty good information when they return. Susan has been to both the San Blas and Bocas on this trip.

Buen viaje!

Stan, the snorkeling in Panama would not compare to Roatan.....if you were to go to Isla Secas- Panama, $$$$, it's great, but really more for divers. We took a daytrip there & it was one of the most fantastic places I have ever seen......

Snorkelling wasn't bad in Bocas del Toro, but because of the weather, the water wasn't as clear as it was when we visited Roatan last April.

We really enjoyed Panama.

Mary Claire, nice to read your report - for some reason, I hadn't seen it before. As you know, our first night at La Estancia overlapped with your trip - it's too bad we didn't run into one another.

We definitely lucked out with the weather - it was so much better the 2 weeks we were there.

I loved reading your trip report. You make me want to go to Panama again despite the bad weather you encountered. And you have a lot more patience than me to write trip reports!
