Oscar
Hi all!
We will be traveling with Oscar during our trip in CR in about 1 week. Since so many of you are friendly with him, do you have suggestions on a small "thank you" gift that we could bring with us from the States for him? Thanks in advance!

When you see Oscar , Please tell him Percy says hello!
He just sent me an e-mail a few weeks ago to just say Hi.
Well, I brought two boxes of Granola Bars for us ( wife and I )
The best there is available with the cranberries and the almonds and raisins and oatmeal etc.
Oscar told me that they have Granola Cereal in Costa Rica but not the bars.!!
I know however, that they do have the bars now, at least they do in the Guanacaste area .
We were driving along on one of our tours and I opened a box of Granola bars to snack on and handed Oscar one.
Well!!! he thought he died and went to heaven, after having one.
So I gave him the remainder of the box and the box I had in my room when we returned from our tour that day.
He has two small children about ages 6- 9 years old.
He says they love going to McDonalds , even when he tries to take them to other places...maybe because of the play area at McDonalds.
For his children you could bring a few coupons from McDonalds , I am sure they would be valid in Costa Rica...but you could ask in your home state first.
His childrens name's are:
Favio( boy) and Faviola( girl), now isn't that cute.
But please say Percy say hello
Thank you
Percy

I remember folks telling me they don't get good apples..or if they do, they are costly; however, I don't know if you can bring fruit through customs???Also, one of our drivers told us he could only afford 1 bottle of wine/yr...and it was only "Blue Nun"! Tell Oscar hello from us...we only went with him twice as he has a deisel and the gas station put regular in and he spent the next wk. repairing the damage! He arranged for others (wonderful as well) to drive us. Have a great time, Joyce

We will be traveling with Oscar in mid June and I wondered the same thing! When you return, please let me know if you have any updated gift ideas. The granola bars are great but I'd rather not pack something they can get there already.
Have fun with Ocsar,

Another thing they seem to like in Costa Rica is Corona Beer.
Yes, the one from Mexico but it is very expensive in Costa Rica for some reason...must be all the added taxes.
Also how about some Coffee from the USA or Canada ( or where ever you are coming from)
Oh I know they have good coffee in Costa Rica, but you know people like to try something different!!!
Just a thought!
