So we will be staying 4 nights at the Iguana Lodge and 4 at Bosque del Cabo in mid April.
The iguana will be first and they set up our Sansa flight from San Jose and will pick us up at the airport. We won't be renting a car. I'm trying to figure out what the easiest (and cheapest) way will be for us to get from the Iguana Lodge down to Bosque del Cabo and then back up from Bosque to the airport. Also what is the best way to book our Sansa flight back up to San Jose. Maybe Bosque will do that for us? They seem great although we had a few glitches with them trying to secure our reservation, so I'm not sure I want to ask them about booking a flight.

Much rain during the day in April? Anyone know what to expect beach/water wise at the Iguana mid April? We are hoping to boogie board, kayak and visit the animal preserve.

Bosque can book your flights easily, or you can just book yourself at flysansa.com. The transfer rate for Bosque from Iguana, or Puerto Jimenez, and back, is $30 per person round trip. You can also just arrange a taxi when you get to Iguana, the going rate is about $30-$40 one way, so you'll still need to arrange with that driver or with Bosque your return transfer.

The cheapest, but not necessarily the easiest or most comfortable, is the collectivo. This is a big truck that leaves PJ twice daily and costs about $8 per person. It stops frequently and may be crowded. However they would only drop you off at the BdC entry and you'd have another mile to walk the driveway (with luggage).

We had BdC book our flights for us and had no problems. We also had them pick us up and drop us back off. Rainy season doesn't start 'til May, so I wouldn't expect much rain.

Excellent. I'll have them book or just book myself. Probably just pay the $30 for the rides down and back. Collectivo might be a trek with the luggage and we want to get there asap!

Speaking from personal experience, Iguana Lodge, Bosque del Cabo, El Remanso, and Luna Lodge all have competent people to book your regional flights as well as secure transportation between the resorts and to/fromPuerto Jimenez. The Lapa Rios website offers the same services, but I have not had occasion to use them.

As far as weather, BdC has a good monthly weather review on their website, but weather doesn't always follow averages. I would say, if visiting the Osa, you should always prepare for rain.

That said, last year,we stayed 4 nts., the first week of May(the start of green season AKA rainy season) and did not have a drop of rain, even at night. The week before it rained everyday, there were trees down on the trails from storms and the staff was still working to remove everyday, and they had problems driving across the streams on the bumpy unimproved dirt road that heads to BdC.

Amazingly, we didn't have mosquitoes or bugs in our room--I still find that unbelievable.

We stayed in July and didn't get a single drop or rain either; it seemed like a miracle, although I do love a good rain storm at night in CR.
