OMG -- booking a CR driver in 2 weeks?

Me and the sis got our signals missed and NEITHER of us have reserved a driver to take us to MA, or to set up reservations to rent a car in Arenal. We arrive in 2 weeks -- is this going to be difficult?

We're going SJO-MA (hire driver)
MA-Arenal (hire driver)
Arenal (rent a car here)
Arenal-La Paz-SJO (drive ourselves)

Should we just bite the bullet and try to rent a car for the whole trip? Is there a Rainbow rental in Arenal?

Have you checked out Interbus or any of the other shuttle places that travel around Costa Rica, many of them do pick-up near the airport & drop off at hotels for around $30-40 per person -- would probably be cheaper for two people then a private driver.

Hi Fishee!! According to your post you are looking for a driver...that is what I do for living. From San Jose to Manuel Antonio the drive is about 3 hours, good road all the way...from Manuel Antonio to Arenal about 4 and half hours...and from Arenal to La Paz waterfall is about 2 and half hours...is easy drive , good road all the way...In Arenal you can find Alamo Rent A Car. Let me know and I can meet you guys at arrival..Luis

There will be four of traveling, including a 7 yr old so a driver seems to make sense. What's generally the going rate?

Luis -- what kind of vehicle do you have and how long have you been operating?

thanks so much!

Hi - We hired a driver,Oscar Chavarria ([email protected] / phone 506-373-2736). Our schedule was SJ - Arenal (Oscar took us to Poas, we stopped at Dokas. Instead of paying for the tour he explained how coffee was picked etc as we sipped our coffee from the cafe ... We skipped going in the waterfall gardens (saw one of the waterfalls from the outside. he would have taken and waited for us but we opted out) he then took us to a place famous for MANY Iguanas ... great to see. then brought us to our hotel in Arenal. He came back and picked us up to drive to Manuel Antonio. he pointed out many things .. saw large crocs etc. on the way. he came back to get us in manuel to bring us back to san jose.

my son gets car sick he was great about it and a very safe driver. so worth it to have someone answer questions about geography, people, customs etc. it was less to have him then rent a car. i would not do it any other way!!! would recommend Juan Brendes of aguila tours when you are in Manuel Antonio (www.aguilatours.com or email [email protected]) Juan knows oscar and can help you as well. i found juan after much research on many sites. he was great, honest and reliable. you will have a great time ... was one of our best vacations.
