Neta in Costa Rica
Hi Everyone:
I have not heard any news lately relating to Neta and her place near Santiago de Puriscal.
She has a terrific website... I like seeing all those butterflies flying around and the humming noise that goes with it.
Has anyone been there recently, or been in contact with her.
I for one miss not hearing or reading how helpful she has always been to everyone that has ever requested her help.
shillamc: have you heard from Neta or visted her recently ??
dfarmer: Did you ever visit her place?
How about you:

Hi Percy,
It's been a week or so since I have heard from Neta. Business is good at the hotel (as it is all over the country!) and she is keeping busy, I am sure. She wrote to give congrats on the Word of Mouth pieces in Fodor's 2006. I think the hotel got good mention in there as well.
Chris Baker also reviewed it in the most recent Moon travel guide. So things are good at their beautiful hotel overlooking the canyon!
During the Christmas season when everything is so busy down there, she usually has a couple of bungalows available (not sure about this year) simply because of their unique location. But it IS a great stopping place between Arenal and Manuel Antonio for those who want to break up the drive and also enjoy what has to be the best food offered in Costa Rica--and the pleasure of Neta and Arbel offering a toast with great wine at the evening meal.
Ho hum--to be there now!
Those who are interested should check out the website for La Finca Que Ama:

I spoke with Arbel on the phone this evening. Neta is visiting family in Israel and will return in a week, just in time for your visit Cheryl! You really should try to get by there--it is such a treat. And yes, they are still there--hopefully will be for a few months!

Gee, Thanks to all of you for the information.
Thanks shillmac and tully and faithie.
I was wondering about Neta because usually someone mentions that they have been to her place.
Oh my goodness I hope they are not selling soon.!!
Thanks again everybody.

I was just at La Finca Que Ama last week. Neta had left that morning for Israel, so I didn't get to meet her, but we had a fabulous time with Arbel. My kids fell in love with him and didn't want to leave the next morning. Their place was a perfect place to rest and relax between Arenal and MA.

Hi Percy,
I have not been in touch with Neta for several months. We did stop by her place to say hello to her when we were in CR. After we met her and saw her place, we were kicking ourselves for not booking a few nights there. Arbel was in Israel, so we never got to meet him.
We definitely want to go back, just not sure when (they may have sold by then). Our itinerary may be a few nights at Neta's and a few nights at Ally's and......?
Oh, and Oscar driving, of course.

Stayed at Neta's one night last week. It was wonderful, she, Arbel and all her staff was wonderful. She told us upon arriving that they had sold the place to a very nice couple. We were going to be their next to the last guests. Glad I was able to visit when Neta was there. However, the place is gorgeous and would love to go back and spend some more time.

billruth, so glad you got to meet Neta and Arbel. I will return to La Finca again because, as you said, it is a lovely hotel and also a good location between the central valley and Manuel Antonio for those who want to venture off the path a bit.
I have to say that, although I will be happy to meet the new owners (Neta says they are lovely people--and I know this to be true or they wouldn't have sold to them!) it will be very hard to arrive at La Finca without being greeted by Neta. She is absolutely the spirit of the place and I can't imagine her not being there. It will be very sad for me at first. . .I know that all of the Fodorite's who have enjoyed their hospitality and goodness join me in wishing them a long and happy life together and in starting their family.
Neta and Arbel, if you're reading this, here's to you! Neta, thank you for the invaluable help you have given to so many on and off Fodor's. Your generosity and kindess and beautiful smile have been a bright light and an inspiration! Thank you for sharing yourselves around that table on the terrace with so many of us! Buen Viaje!

I think shillmac has said it all very eloquently.
I am one of those sad people that never got to go to Neta's place.
Neta and I have exchanged many e-mails,when I was in England/Ireland and then in Egypt and most recently (last week) in Mexico...I always wrote to Neta.
I will write to her before the end of the month...but I regret that I could not have made it to Neta's.
My best chance to see Neta was last July but in the process of making reservations, a house that we always wanted came up for sale ..so we bought the house and spent the next 6 weeks moving( as shillmac knows.)
Neta you were always terrific and will be sadly missed by many many of us.
Good Luck
Percy

Neta changed my viewpoint on what is a b&b, and now that my standards have gone up it takes more research than ever to find the good ones!
If you haven't been to La Finca Que Ama yet, do go ahead and try it out and meet the new owners. I love the main house, where we enjoyed both breakfast and dinner with a big open view of the countryside and mountains. At dinner time there was even some rain with lightening, adding wonderfully to the atmosphere. What a nice place to get away from it all for a couple of nights! I think we will be seeing more excellent reviews of La Finca Que Ama.
Thank you Neta and Arbel and good wishes!
