Need Hotel suggestions for fun in Puerto Vallarta

Stayed at the Allegro last August, it was ok, but nothing great. We are going to PV again this August and want to stay somewhere else. Here is what we would like- a beach where I can wade in (non swimmer) , walking distance to restarants, no time shares, nice rooms, and things to do on the property, like a small disco etc. MUST have a couple of bars on property. We are in our 30's, but not looking for just a party place, need to relax too. Thanks in advance!

Try the Molina de Agua, right in town on the south side. Loads of bars, entertainment and restaurants within 2 blocks or so.

Old Town PV vs resorts

The Allegro you mentioned athe resort out in Nuevo Vallarta?

Molino de Agua and Tropicana mentioned above are GREAT suggestions for the Old Town area of PV (although I don't believe either has multiple bars or discos). Playa Los Arcos, with an ocean view room, maybe?

To get "a couple bars on the property" and "small disco" and "things to do on the property", I think you'd have to get back into the Hotel Zone or The Marina or Nuevo (although I hate to suggest this because I love Old Town much more, BUT for what these posters are lookinig for i.e., self-contained, bars & clubs ON the property, etc. ... well I don't think you'll find it in the south part of town).

I stay at the Krystal all the time and love it, but there is timeshare there, and it is not walking distance to town. Yes there is a disco at the hotel, and several swim up bars in the pool. However, if you stay at the Molina it will probably be a little more laid back, but at the same time within a few steps of any kind of entertainment you could want. So the hotel could be your relaxation spot, and you can walk out the front of the hotel and in a few blocks (or less!) get to wonderful restaurants and clubs. We just take a cab into town for entertainment, but if you don't want to do that go with the Molina or the Tropicana.
