Mexico City was great!

Mexico City – February 2022

What warm and hospitable people!

Uber worked very well and is reasonably priced. We hit all the main attractions in a week.

Hotel Boutique Villa Condesa is lovely. Room #7 (a deluxe category – queen bed & balcony) was perfect for us. Friendly and efficient staff. Nice breakfast included. Beautiful sitting areas throughout. The hotel will arrange an airport pick up which was very handy. Approximately $70 USD. Uber would be less. If your budget allows, it was convenient having a person there with our name on a sign after claiming our luggage. We're a couple in our mid 60's and enjoy the efficiency at this stage of life.

Don’t miss The Ballet Folklorico at the Palacio de Bellas Artes. We’ve seen many high quality performances around the world. This is one of them. Seating is spaced out and masks required. Please honor their request and don’t photograph. It's also a courtesy to those around you. We purchased tickets a couple days in advance at a kiosk inside the Museo Nat’l de Anthropologia (Ticketmaster). Best seats were $60 per person & worth it. There are several price ranges available. It was easy getting Uber after the evening performance.

Museo Frida Kahlo/Casa Azul was wonderful. Do not show up without a ticket. All the begging in the world was not getting people in. I would reserve the earliest time and get in line ˝ hour early during the week. We did this and had quite a bit of time by ourselves inside. We were able to book on-line approximately 5-6 weeks prior. Museofridakahlo.org.mx

Mexico City residents and businesses are extremely careful with covid. Mask wearing is prevalent on the streets and inside buildings. Many restaurants take temperatures and issue hand sanitizer upon entry.

Xochimilco – the 2 hour punt on the canal on a Saturday morning was very nice and a unique experience. It was at least an hour ride getting there from the Condesa area. Food and drinks are readily available for purchase. $25/hour for as many people as you want in the boat. Choose 2 hours and add time if you wish. I would suggest morning if you like a quieter experience. Afternoon is a party atmosphere with more boat congestion if you prefer that.

Unfortunately, the Museo Dolores Olmedo was still closed in this area.

You rarely see people in shorts. They are "out of place" in the city. You may want to pack light weight slacks for the pleasant weather. It was cool in the morning. A fleece & light weight jacket were handy to have. After 10:00 AM it was warm.

Enjoy!!
