Mexico at Christmas
Any of you have a favorite spot in Mexico to go at Christmas - looks like Baja would be the easist for us to get to
Have been to Cabo and Puero Vallerta years ago so not really familiar with them.
Would like a nice, clear resort either on or near beach - not looking for real high end -
Daughters boyfriend like LaPaz because of the diving - but not sure it sounds like what I am looking for - any opinions on La Paz?

Oops sorry that last sentence is confusing.
I've been to Vallarta 19 times. Several of those times were in December. Once at Christmas. Three times early in the month. (I like to go the week before and including Dec 12th for the Festival of the Virgin of Guadalupe).
My Cabo & La Paz trips were in February and March/April respectively.

What did you think of LaPaz and where did you stay ?
They want to dive- I want a beach to lay on - at least part of the time - maybe I will take up diving too -daughter's BF is a certified instructor- but I bet he'd rather be diving with my daughter

PV is your best bet for weather. Both La Paz and Cabo can be chilly at Christmas time. Cabo is extremely touristy, PV much more authentic. I'm not sure about the diving there, though. You might want to consider the area around Tulum (south of Cancun) instead.

Diving is no good in PV. The weather is gorgeous in December.
I liked La Paz a lot and loved this hotel: www.clubelmoro.com but the beaches right in the city of La Paz are not nice. You really want a rental car there to be able to get to the prettier places (as far as "a beach to lay on" requst) to the north and south of town. La Paz isn't too tourist, it's just a normal town/city. Which may or may not appeal to people.
I don't exactly agree with the statement that Cabo is extremely touristy and PV much more authentic. They are just two completely different places. PV existed as a town before tourism, and would exist if tourists all went home. While Cabo would be one very tiny sleepy town if the tourists left.
