Merida on sundays

We'd love to enjoy the activities in the square on sundays in Merida, but are worried we will not have time. Our flight arrives in cancun at 1:30 p.m. We have a rental car reserved and plan to head right for Merida. Will we have a chance to get into town for a few hours before dark? We'll be staying at the Hacienda Temozon. Can anyone suggest where we might park on our way into town?

You land at 1:30. By the time you are through customs and immigration it will be at least 2:30, probably later. Then you have to pick up your car -- another half hour minimum. It's three. The drive to Merida is between four and five hours. It's seven or eight. Sunset in Merida on the longest day of the year is 7:43 in 2006.

Solution: Arrive Saturday.

Cancun Airport to Merida is about 3 hours. But I think you are pushing too hard for plan to stop in Merida - you still have to drive to Temozon... It's just too much to do on the first day. You can still enjoy Merida other than Sunday.

My husband and I are planning to go to Temozon in May. Do let us know how you liked the place. We stayed at Hacienda Xcanatun 2 years ago - we had a fantastic time there.

Don't rush it. You need to get into a more relaxed pace. Besides there something happening at one plaza or another. From Tropical dance bands to traditional folkloric dancers. Go to yucatantoday.com and check Merida and they will provide a schedule of the various events. All of which are fun and free. Just got back and loved Merida. Hope you do too.

Thanks for all the tips. We decided to play it by ear. If it's getting too late, we'll head right to Temozon and save Merida for Tuesday. (Monday is already scheduled for a day at Uxmal and eve at the Hacienda). Wish I could have flown in on Saturday, but we're going FF and all the seats were full.
I'll surely report on Temozon and Merida on my return.

I can't say enough about Hacienda Temozon. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, the grounds were beautiful, the room was spacious and comfortable. We wished we could have stayed longer. The drive from Cancun airport was a breeze, about 3 1/2 hours. We did wind up going right to Temozon, and had a nice relaxing dinner and evening. If you go, find time to have a massage in the cenote--I still regret passing it up.
