Mayan Palace Hotel
Hi friends,
Has anybody stayed at the Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta? Is the property nice? Are there local activities? How far is it into Puerta Vallarta?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Thanks!

Dear trigo:
We stayed at the Grand Mayan next door last year. The property is very nice. Great pool area. The two resorts are rather spread out. We didn't really check out any activities in the area, but there are some. We did the Rythems of the Night trip and a Canopy tour, plus some trips into PV. PV is about 30-40 minutes away. Buses are available as are taxis.
As mentioned by Curt, these are timeshare properties. At check in they will ask if you want to go to a free breakfast. If so, you will get a discount on your food bill. DO NOT DO IT. The 90 min. presentation will turn into 3 hours. The Mayan Palace sales people will not take no for an answer and will then put you down for not buying. Just avoid it if you can.

Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for the info and the trip report. Actually my daughter and son-in-law are going there. My husband and I leave for Cabo this coming Monday for 5 nights at the Westin Resort & Spa. I see you have a timeshare in Cabo. This is our first trip there, any recommendations for us?

We stayed at this resort in October 2013 and enjoyed our stay very much. We had a nice room on the 7th floor with an ocean view. We had to agree to attend a timeshare presentation with a free breakfast to get this room. Again, they tried very hard to sell us a timeshare, but we did not buy:

This vacation in PV was for some well-deserved R & R, not timeshare hunting. Staff was very accommodating. Whatever request we had was taken care of in matter of minutes. The gym on the first floor opened at 6 am and we made good use of it everyday. If there was a down side to this resort, it did not offer free wi-fi. Housekeeping staff was awesome...Hersey Kisses on the bed every evening. Nice. I would definitely stay here in the future
