macchu pichu luggage storage
Hello
A follow up to my last question...I have read that htere may be luggage storage at the entrance gate to M.P. Does anyone know if this is true? If so it it only for Inka trail hikers or for day trippers too?
Thank again!

There is a place to store luggage at the entrance, but if you're not arriving via the Inca Trail, are you sure you'd need to use it? If you're doing MP as a daytrip, wouldn't you be returning to the same place in Cusco (or Ollantaytambo) from which you left early that morning? And if you overnight in Aguas Calientes, you can check into your hotel when you arrive and then head up to the ruins.

I should say, if you show up with a backpack, you have to leave it at the entrance. They don't seem to care if its a VERY small bag in which you might have sunscreen (you'll want that) and a bottle of water. Officially you can't take any food or drink inside, but if you're unobtrusive with a bottle of water (and take the bottle back out with you), I think you can get by with it. It gets warm up there, and there's very little shade.

Thanks for your replies. Actually, our issue is that we will be going to MP from the Urubamba but planning to go to Cusco from MP. So we will have our luggage with us (not a whole lot but at least one large backpack for each of the 3 if us). Just want to make sure htat we'd be able to use the storage facilities and that they're not only for the inka trail hikers.
thanks again
