México City on Netflix
Featured from the BBC series "World's Busiest Cities". I've personally always been fascinated by how Mexico City somehow manages to function amid all the chaos. This documentary, if you've not already seen it, I thought gave some compelling, albeit brief, insight into some of the challenges that the city and it's residents live with and manage to (mostly) overcome. No food or historical vignettes, but worth a watch for fans of the city.

I have the series on my netflix list so on your recommendation watched Hong Kong & Mexico City last night. Quite remarkable though the Mexico City one in general will do little for tourism numbers. Fascinating though and as you say some real insight into the art of coping. And the extreme conditions the city as a whole faces with less than solid ground beneath. The evidence in the form of the undulating building still standing was hard to believe. Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

Years ago I had read an article about a scuba team that was deployed into the sewers to remove blockages such as dead animals, dead humans, and God knows what else. I guess they're still at it.
