List of Honeymoon Hotels in Costa Rica

Papagayo is not where I send my honeymooners. To each their own. But all inclusive and / or mega resorts have never been my idea of a romantic getaway.
Costa Rica really shines in the small boutique hotels. Makanda and Buena Vista Villas are great choices, and we use them all the time. Hotel Gaia is good too. All of these are in the Manuel Antonio area.
You will see Bosque del Cabo mentioned a lot here. If a small little bungalow in the jungle appeals to you, this is a romantic gem. We actually spent part of our own honeymoon there.
Away from the beaches, Hotel Arenal Kioro at the volcano is upscale with great views. The Peace Lodge at La Paz Waterfall Gardens is amazing, especially the Deluxe rooms. The Grano de Oro is an excellent choice for a small hotel in San Jose, convenient to downtown.

I'd consider some of the recs made by Pat (and VG). The big AI resorts just aren't what Costa Rica is all about.
If you share more specifics about what you're looking for, the forum can probably offer some good suggestions.
