LACSA airlines

Has anyone used this airline? Are they safe and reliable? I prefer Continental but they don't have much choice in schedule. Flying from NYC to San Jose, Costa Rica in May. Thanks.

It is better than Continental. LACSA has newer planes (mostly airbuses), better service and more reliable schedules.

LACSA is a "division" of Grupo TACA who operate one of the newest fleets in the Americas - very good safety record and decent cabin service. I fly them all the time within the region.

Good choice if rate and schedule fit.

There really is no LACSA airlines anymore. As Andrew says, they are part of TACA, with headquarters in El Salvador. The plane will be a TACA aircraft, and the only reference to LACSA you'll hear is in the inflight announcement, something to the effect: TACA welcomes you on board its flight LACSA (whatever the flight number) to San Jose, Costa Rica. But whatever it is called, it's a good choice, as everyone here says.

I used TACA to go to Roatan, Honduras. The aircraft was new, everything was on time, and a meal (liquor included) was served even though it was only a 2 hour flight.
