Jaco for last night? HELP!

Going on 11 night honeymoon in November -
Xandari, Lost Iguana-Arenal, Belmar-Monteverde, El Sano Banano-Montezuma. I think getting from Nicoya to the airport for a 3pm flight is risky and laborious, so I am trying to find a great place on the coast that is close to SJO to end the honeymoon with a bang! Villa Caletas doesn't have vacancy that night so I have been looking around Jaco. Everything seems sort of lackluster. I was thinking of Los Suenos Marriott, but it's too much money and not very unique - would like to keep it less than 150. Nothing seems to jump out, especially knowing how amazing and unique El Sano Banano is going to be. I want to spend the last night somewhere spectacular. Would anyone even consider going to the airport from Montezuma? I can't decide on this!

I have a great place for you to look at , and it's on the way back to San Jose from the ferry I believe ..... It's called the " Inn at Coyote Mountain " , www.cerrocoyote.com . A small boutique hotel in the mountains and it looks like a gem !!!! ( not a huge drive to the airport either ) Yikes !!! I'm excited for you , looks perfect !!! lol , Faith

Well Bummer!

I know you really wanted to overlook the ocean for that final night. However, have you looked at Vista del Valle Plantation Inn? We stayed here our last night a few years back and truly loved this place and it is only 20 mins from the airport.

Hopefully someone else will come up with an idea for the ocean view.

WOWEE faithie! that Coyote Mountain is amazing!!! Could be the answer! We'll be at the beach for 5 nights prior so it's Ok - I would rather go somewhere different than go to a disappointing beach.
Are my feelings about Jaco justified or is it pretty nice?

I wouldn't describe Jaco as "pretty nice". It seemed to me more of a low-budget backpacker/surfer destination. The beach itself was kind of dirty. It might be a let down for your last night, considering the beautiful lodgings that you have chosen so far.

Another non-coastal option whould be La Finca que Ama. www.costaricafinca.com

Well...... Actually , Jaco is NOT very nice . I do not think many would disagree with me . I believe Villas Caletas is very nice itself , But Jaco the beach , the town , the envoirment , ambience , not very nice . A little seedy in fact . You are not jipping yourself out of an amazing spot so to speak . On the OTHER hand , Cerro Coyote Mountain Lodge , THAT looks like one cool spot !!! Imagine a good bottle of red looking in one direction over the Nicoya Peninsula where you just departed , to the mountains in the other ..... Sigh .... lol , Faith !!!

Thanks everyone! I'm glad that you can confirm what I suspected about Jaco - very reassuring. Plus, the Coyote Inn seems even a little closer to the airport. It's like you described Faithie - I just want to have a nice relaxing final evening. I will check into all of the places you recommended - thanks! I didn't even know where to start after my first idea fell through!

We have friends that stayed at the Inn at Coyote Mountain and they loved it. They had great things to say about the ambience, food, architecture, etc. Sounds like a great choice.
