Info. on White Sand Cove Resort?

Have checked out several sources and this place looks to have what we need. 3 women and one 10 year old girl going to rest and snorkel sometime in Feb. Does anyone know about the snorkeling right from the beach at this location? The resident manager was great in answering my e-mail with much good information. Thanks

I haven't snorkeled there myself, but I wouldn't think there would be much snorkeling from the beach at White Sands. There's really not any shore snorkeling to speak of anywhere on the island, except around "artificial reefs" such as at Ramon's pier or in the far north where the reef and patch coral is closer to shore.

Is there such a place in Belize that we could snorkel right from our beach? Am I expecting/wanting too much? I was just looking at your web site Lan. I new you would come to my rescue. Thanks

There are few coral encrusted islands off the coast (South Water Caye, Tobacco Caye and a few others off Placencia) and the atolls, of which we have three of the four situated in the western hemisphere. The reef is less than a mile from shore where White Sands cove is, so you'll need a boat to get there and back. A kayak would work just as well.

Several resorts are claiming that one could snorkel off the end of a long dock which most seem to have. Possible? Stupid question - what is an atoll? Do you, Lan, or anyone else have any hotel/resort/condotel rec. in the areas you mentioned? Is there another resource I could use that would list hotels in those specific areas? I know they list hotels in Placencia, but would they list specifically for the others?

They are all much more remote

and others

An atoll is a shallow lagoon encircled by coral. These are unsimiliar to what you have in the S. Pacific, but considered atolls all the same.
