Ideas for Day Around Coba
I'll be in Akumal at an AI and want to take a day to explore the Coba ruins and the nearby cenotes. I'm looking for suggestions on family-style eateries (preferably not places where the tour buses stop) in the area to grab lunch. I've also read that there are some places on the Coba Rd before the ruins that are good for native handicrafts. Thanks in advance!

There's an excellent little Mexican restaurant, run by the locals, in the hamlet of Macario Gomez near Tulum, on the Coba Road. Called Rancho La Cachimba I believe. On the left hand side of the road as you're driving from Tulum towards Coba. We ate there multiple times.
All kinds of places selling crafts on the Coba Road, you could spend all day there just looking at all the different craft stores.
