Actually, was trying to be kind.. our trip was delayed one day..and that day they had a torrential rain storm..and it rained every day we were there...I haven't forgiven or used the travel agent who recommended the place.. she knew what the weather could possibly be... I was really furious because of all the business I give her without her having to do much work. It got so that the highlight of one day I was trying to get sun was that I was under the tent painting a ceramic parrot...lol

I stayed at this resort shortly after it opened (back in March of 2001, I believe it was)and loved it!
The Japanese restaurant was good (be sure to request seats at the hibachi table or you may just get a regular table). We also enjoyed the Brazilian restaurant--very unique way of serving food carved off the rotisserie. The seafood restaurant was pretty inside, but the food was not great(although I'm not a huge seafood fan and there weren't many other choices). I can't recall what the fourth a la carte restaurant was--maybe Mexican? I don't believe we ate there because we figured there would be enough Mexican at the buffet restaurants. Don't forget to make your reservations ASAP after arriving.
We also enjoyed the cigar bar and lobby bars. Drinks at this resort were better than at some AIs. The pool is fantastic--must be seen to be believed! The entertainment was typical for an AI (nothing to right home about, but they sure do try hard), but they do have a nice theatre for the shows. The resort is very pretty--lots of marble walls and floors, foliage, etc. Be prepared to do a lot of walking--this resort is huge!

The Mediterranean restaurant (cold and hot seafood buffets PLUS a la carte off the menu) was fabulous.
check the trips reports on http://www.mts.net/~eissner/
We loved it, just too bad they never did finish the pier and so no scuba diving from the resort..they truck you down to IB Quetzal!
