Hotels in Manuel Antonio

We are staying in Manuel Antonio later this month for two nights and the two hotels we wanted to stay at are full. They are the Hotel Plaza Yara and La Posada Jungle hotel. Does anyone have suggestions on similar hotels that are good that I should check on in Manuel Antonio.

Thanks

Did you check Tulemar Bungalows? The Mot Mot one is very popular. What about Villas Nicolas, Costa Verde, or Mango Moon?

It's pretty easy to find lists of Hotels in Manuel Antonio. Just for fun, I asked Google to "Name some hotels in Manuel Antonio." and it came up with Trip Advisor's list of 47. That's a good place to start. Find a few that appeal to you in terms of views, price, proximity to the park, beach, restaurants, and then inquire here to see if anyone has stayed there. There are lots of good hotels and resorts not yet experienced by the relatively small population that contributes advice here. Reading the reviews on TripAdvisor can be useful, although some people think that some of the very negative and very positive reviews are phony. They're all not likely to be phony.

Judging by your price range, I would suggest Hotel Costaverde. They have rooms that start at $87.00.

For a little more, Hotel Villabosque has nice rooms and are just a short walk from the park entrance. The rooms have cable, and they include breakfast too.

Both hotel have nice pool areas.

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer more advice.

@Kinkazote

I agree about TripAdvisor. It really is not the source it used to be.

There is one individual that has put up almost a third of the total posts in their CR section. He is in the tourism business, and looks at the TA forum as his private lead generator. Anytime another travel pro posts, he goes after them very aggressively. If you look at any of my postings, you will see that there are a lot of responses that have been removed by TA. Same thing whenever someone posts something nice about me.

He also only has good things to say about hotels he works with. He finds a negative with all the others.

I have sent several letters of complaint, and so have some of the hotel owners I work with. TA never does anything. They apparently want the content, and don't care that it is adversely affecting the quality of the information.

I much prefer the friendlier atmosphere here at Fodor's!

I hope this helps! Let me know if I can offer more advice.

Warm Regards,

I specifically mentioned Trip Advisor REVIEWS.
I do not participate in or read their forums and didn't mention them or recommend them. I am sure your points about the forums are accurate.

To reiterate my point about TA reviews:

The information found in the reviews (regardless of the rating) is often very helpful, and the candid photos taken by just plain old tourists are worth far more than the professional publicity pictures supplied by the hotels/resorts. Again, some review write ups may be phony (and some negative reviews are just plain silly), but the information is potentially valuable and it is focused and cumulative. The reviews are organized so that you don't have to search through posting after posting to find information about a specific hotel/resort. Many hotels are reviewed by a number (sometimes a large number) of people from all over the world, and many give reasons for their judgments.

As for their forums (or whatever) which I do not read and did not mention, Fodor must certainly be much better. It has served my needs (under a variety of screen names) for years.

I do agree that most reviews you can pretty much tell. Posting "tourist" pics, mentioning odd tidbits etc. I take them with a grain of salt but I have yet to be led wrong by any of the reviews. Nice to see you Pat and oh I know exactly of whom you speak! Have written emails as well, and it did result not too long ago in a month long time-out (sure it was several of us, not just me complaining). I do prefer all the friendly folks here as well.

To the OP, I agree you may want to look at Costa Verde. Very nice grounds w/a variety of room types/rates.
