Buena Vista Villas and Tulemar Bungalows are popular too.

I like Costa Verde, the studio plus rooms. Simple rooms with a small kitchenette with awesome views.

We just returned from Costa Rica and stayed at Si Como No which I highly recomend - we loved it. We stayed at Hotel California and did not like it at all - our biggest complaint was the rooms are very noisy.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a good stay at Hotel California, flycatcher.

We stayed there in December, 2006 and thought it was a good choice. We didn't have any noise issues when we were there, but we also visited before peak tourist season, so maybe that has something to do with it. We were in a deluxe room w/ocean view on the second floor. Maybe that helps as well?

Si Como No is a great choice...kind of high end price...but good location...of course...Buena Vista villas and casas is one of the best choices in Manuel Antonio...I stayed there in a two bedroom villa a few months ago with my family...we just love it...

Re-reading your post you state not "too fancy", wheich probably means not too expensive....?

For us Tulemar/ Buena Vista, and Si Como No are too pricey. We take a efficency unit at Costa Verde which is perfect. FRom the D-Unit at Costa Verde you have an amazing view of Punta Catedral at MA Park and it's nestled in the jungle across the road from the pool /restaurant at CV so feels private.

For a really great deal, intimate service look at Didi's Charming B&B.

Both mentioned are much less $$ than the others.
