Hotels in Alajuela
We're skipping the city of San Jose on our and want to stay in Alejuela on our first and last nights in Costa Rica (February). Does anyone have suggestions for a $50-75 hotel near the airport? Vista del Valle looks really nice, but it's out of our $ range.

***No advertisements, please--I'd like some suggestions from people who have actually paid to stayed there.***

Jane,
Good idea to skip San Jose. My husband and I have been to Cosat Rica 6 times, and we always stay in Alajuela at the
Orquideas Inn. The rooms are nothing special but comfortable and clean. Prices includes a FABULOUS breakfast buffet, and is in your price range. They are on the web. Do a search for Orquideas Inn, and let me know if you have any questions.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn the first night in Costa Rica. It was clean and comfortable and very close to the airport which helps if your flight arrives late at night or leaves early in the morning. I don't remember the exact price we paid but I believe it should be within your range. Breakfast was included and they run a shuttle to and from the airport.

Jane...We always stay at Jose Pelleya's B&B in Alajuel;a. It is $30US/Cpl/night. Good place to stay on first and last nights in CR. We paid 500 colones for a cab ride to the airport from his place in July 2000. It is close, but you don't hear the planes. He feeds you a nice breakfast. He has a little cottage, but you'll have to reserve it. E-mail: [email protected]. Take a peek at: [email protected]. He is a great source for information! He'll save you big bucks. Dave
