help

Hi

Mid -50's couple in ny seeking a R&R get away- was recommended DR- but read some issues with bugs etc there - think maybe mexico is great value- would like 5 star
hotel- any recommendations- just wanna chill and eat well- maybe a little light shopping- dont need water sports- are the all inclusive worth it? Ideally direct flight-
20-30 mins from airport- oceanfront -
thx
joe

joe- Where are you flying from (as far as requesting a nonstop flight)? Depends on which specific all-inclusive resort and what location we are talking about, some are worth it, some aren't. Definitely the Caribbean coast has more of this kind of thing (than the Pacific coast or Baja).

I'd (kindly suggest to) repost your question & specifically ask about a 5-star hotel recommendation on the Mayan Riviera (Caribbean coast) around Cancun, Playa del Carmen, that stretch of coastline. Those are easy coming from NYC & an area that is very beautiful & specializes in those kind of resorts.

You're out of my price range and personal experience but maybe that will help you get some more replies to your question. suerte, suze

ok thanks so much- it doesnt seem as if a 5 star is that much more expensive than a 4- we dont get away often so I was hoping for a great place

Gosh I wish the experts for that side would tune in here... where is everybody?

I believe it's about 45 mins south to get to Playa del Carmen from the Cancun airport?

The airport is south of Cancun proper. It usually takes me about an hour to get to Akumal, PDC is north of there, so maybe 45 minutes unless you get stuck in late afternoon rush hour traffic there. Sorry I have only stayed in an AI once (this past May) and it was definitely not 5 star (except for the beach).
