Hanging bridges: Arenal or Monteverde?

Would you recommend doing the hanging bridges in Arenal, or Monteverde? And in MV, Skywalk or Selvatura? I like the height of the bridges in Selvatura (if I'm not mistaken, the highest in the area) and they seem to be more in "tune" with the environment. Is that true? Is it worth doing the bridges in both Arenal and MV? Any place more crowded than the others? Thanks once more for your input.

Why not just do whichever one is the most convenient during your trip?

To me all hanging bridges are equally interesting because of the engineering that went into their construction and (hoped for) maintenance. One might be perceived to be better than another in one instance because of good weather, good lighting angle, right time of day, high number of critters spotted, how wide awake you are, or whether you really have to go to the john! Another instance on the same bridge could be completely unrewarding. Crowding might be a reasonable difference but one that is completely unpredictable, even where signs tell you what the number of persons is that can be on a bridge at the same time.

Getting this choice just right will not improve your vacation very much.

After having done one years ago, now I only cross them if I have to do so to get to where I want to be.

We've only done them in Arenal - very pretty hike. We didn't see much in the way of wildlife, so if that interests you, I'd hire a guide to increase your chances. Arenal offers the view of the volcano, so in my book, that's one benefit of doing it there. But it could be so cloudy that you don't see the volcano at all. Selvatura always gets great reviews too.

We went on both Selvetura and Arenal, but only because at Selvetura we did the canopy tour (ziplining). At Arenal we did a guided tour for 1.5 hours while at Selvetura we merely ran onto the bridge to see what it was about (since that wasn't our main purpose to go there). If you're really short on time and you want to do a canopy tour, I'd do the bridges at Selvetura. But if you want a day trip at Arenal then I'd do them there You can't really go wrong here...
