Maybe these sites will help, both have "historical Weather" sites that give you the average month by month.
WWW.WEATHER.COM & WWW.WEATHERPOST.COM/ and then look for travel, then weather. Both have helped us when planning a vacation.
We were in CR last July. It rains every day, usually beginning around 1 p.m., sometimes later. Sometimes for a little while, sometimes for the whole afternoon and evening. Sometimes a drizzle, sometimes a gullywasher. Don't be put off by this description. There was plenty of dry time to see the sights. We'd go back in a flash.

Arenal was the highlight of our time there. We spent a day at the Tabacon Hot Spring Resort. Fabulous!

Enjoy!!!

Just got back from Lake Arenal, Selva Verde Lodge and the Sarapiqui River area. Definately take a guided boat tour down the river; we saw white-faced and howler monkeys, caymans and one huge crocidile(which even surprised our guide), beautifuly iguanas and lizards, two and three-toed sloths, and plenty of neat tropical birds. At Lake Arenal, take pictures of the Arenal Volcano at night, great shots of the red hot innards plummeting down the hillside. Have a good time, and watach out for Coral Snakes when footing it through the area; we saw two. One was at night on the brick road which winds up the hillside to the Arenal Lodge. Make noise when hiking and the snakes will move away ahead of you. Enjoy!!
