Loved the pictures as I was to both
the Galapagos and to Machu Picchu( March 2007).
Nice to see all the famaliar places.
Did Ed also go to the Equator line at Mita del Munda.?
If I remember correctly the equator lineand Globe he is standing beside is on the way to Otavalo ( Right !?)
Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Percy,
Yes, that is the globe on the way to Otavalo. Ed was concerned as his portable GPS reading did not indicate that this was the equator, which I believe was down the road or across the street and down the road.
Glad you enjoyed the photos.

Hi GrannyJoan
Actually the Equator Line place that Ed was at is the one that was constructed in 1936.
It is the Wrong Place!...unfortunatley.
At Mita del Mundo is where the authorities erected a large huge monument with rows of bust of men on each side.
These men were the European explorers who ascertained that this is the true location of the Equator Line.( it is impressive to visit here)
oops Wrong Again.!!!!
The TRUE equator line is just a short distance to the North of this monument location at Mita del Mundo.
If you should go to the TRUE location the guide there would be happy to show you that their location is the real one(Which it is.)
I have been to all three places, the 1936, 1970 and the present one.
