Four Seasons Property

I'm taking my family (9 people; ages 7-60) to the Four Seasons Resort for 6 days begining May 28th. I would really appreciate some input on what to do and more importantly, what not to do! Also some packing tips - any must have's? Thank you.

Costa Rica? I'd suggest a daytrip to Rincon de la Vieja. I'm sure it will be among the hotel offerings for getting out and about. Also, you might consider renting a car and just driving down to Tamarindo one day. There are some nice beaches in between FS and there, the two being about an hour and a half apart. Hop down to Playa Hermosa (signage is good), take the Congo Trail through the country to Playa Potrero, Playa Penca, Playa Flamingo, Playa Brasilito, Playa Conchal, on to Playa Tamarindo. It's a nice daytrip and a good way to visit a few other beaches, all very close together. Flamingo has a gorgeous beach as does Conchal (you get to the Conchal beach from the little village of Brasilito).

Just a couple of ideas. . .

Over there? Yeah, I'd say so. I do it all the time. Used to drive around alone after dark even between locations, but don't think I'd do that anymore--even over there. So much development going on, it really has drawn some unsavory characters out of the woodwork. Very unfortunate.

It IS a good idea to have a car unless you plan to stay on the property most of the time. Perhaps you could rent one for a couple of days? FS is pretty darned expensive not to enjoy it most of the time! Check with Tricolor in Liberia. They'd probably deliver for you.

thanks for the helpful suggestions; i'll arrange a car for a couple of days. i understand that there are quite a few destinations within about 2 hours (about the limit for my kids). which ones are the best and can be enjoyed in a couple of days?
