We just booked with Apple last night for a much needed trip to Iberostar Paraiso del Mar. I have been obsessively reading TA about all the Iberostars and we did get a good deal on this hotel. Today I went to TA and there are two new posts with very bad reviews on the food. YIKES! Has anyone else been there recently? Should we be worried about the quality of the food? I'm not looking for 5 star restaurants...just edible is good for me!

I also read those reviews and I think that some people just like to complain. We were at the Del Mar last year and love the place. The food is OK. Some things on the buffet were great..other things just OK.
The breakfast buffet by the main lobby was fantastic. The lunches are just OK, but there is the Commercial Center which has a burger place, taco place, crepe and ice cream place and a tapas place. All that is also included.
Make your ala carte dinner reservations as soon as you get there. We really like the Japanese.
You will be in a foreign country at a place that deals with people from all around the world. Don't expect the food to taste like it does at home.

By the way...the ice cream there is GREAT and so is the salsa.

Thanks so much schmerl! We've been to AI's in the past and know the food can be just ok to fantastic. I've heard about the Japanese restaurant and we're definately going to try to snap that one up right away! I appreciate you're taking the time to put my mind at ease!
