Flights within Argentina
Hi .... thanks for everyone's responses concerning the Grand Boulevard hotel. We're not going to stay there after all.

I'm wondering what experiences people have had booking flights once they arrived in Argentina. The Travel agent (An Argentina specialist) I booked my flight from in New York said that I definitely should book my flights once I get down there -- she said that a flight to Iguazu Falls should cost around $40-$50 roundtrip. I thought this sounded too good to be true, and a travel agent in Buenos Aires quoted me a fare of around $175 roundtrip. What have other people paid for flights?

The NY travel agent still insists she is right.

Thanks,
Olivia

I just returned from Argentina with my boyfriend and we had to fly to Mar del Plata using Aerolineas Argentinas. Since I'm argentinian, I did pay a much lower rate than my boyfriend who is not. His ticket cost almost double than mine...
Still, in dollars, the cost of the tickets was ridiculously cheap so well..no complaints..although they never even checked my boyfriend's nationality. Maybe because he has a spanish sounding name I guess..

I have been told that foreigners can buy tickets at the "Argentinean rate" in Arg or through an Arg. travel agent, but they might check your passport/identification at the airport and then you will have to pay a higher price and who knows what other penalties. Is it worth the risk?
