First trip to Argentina

I'm planning a trip to Argentina with a friend for October. We'll fly into and out of BA and will be in the country for 9 days. We're thinking about seeing BA, Salta, and Mendoza (wine country). For the amount of time we are there, is this realistic? Any suggestions regarding the itinerary? Thanks in advance.

We visited BsAs for the first time last November and were there for 10 days. We spent two nights at Iguazu Falls, spent an afternoon in Tigre and took a day trip to Colonia. We spent the rest of the time in BsAs. There is so much to see and do we were happy to have that much time to spend in BsAs itself.

I can't really help with your plans to go to Mendoza and Salta (we hope to visit both places someday) regarding travel times, where to stay, etc., but I'm sure you will get some responses and advice regarding that part of your plans.

I incorporated the plans for our trip into a long file. If you would like it, please e-mail me.

Salta is a good choice. The NW of Argentina is varied and amazing. No words to describe it. You will have to make a choice, Argentina is huge and you need time for enjoying it. Keep in mind Salta as the centre of your tours in the NW.
Have e nice time.

I would do Salta, and spend the rest of my time in Buenos Aires. Leaving Mendoza for another trip.
Thre are many things to do in Bue and also in Salta where you can see also some wine country. Have fun.

I just went to Iguazu 2 weeks ago and there was very little water. It was a huge disappointment.

Abby, when are you going to post your trip report? Curious minds want to know.

Thanks for all the responses! We've decided to stay in Buenos Aires the entire time (unless someone knows how to get a reasonable roundtrip airfare to Salta!!). We'd like to go to an estancia near (1-2 hr drive) BsAs. Any suggestions? Also, what are some decent day trips to outside of BsAs?

Thanks again for all the advice, everyone!

Before you give up on airfare to Salta, check with an Argentinian travel agent. They can often do better with price than persons in the USA. There are several travel agents recommended on this site and on Trip Advisor.
