Ferry or Plane to Ambergris Caye
I will be in Belize next month and am spending 3 nights on Ambergris Caye. I am debating on whether to take the ferry or plane over from Belize City. I am wondering if the extra hassle is worth it?

I've taken both and consider the ferry "the extra hassle" not the plane. The ferry ride is usually uneventful but if it's late or snotty weather, it can be an adventure. The flight is quick and easy and gives you a nice persepctive on the island!

If you're already in Belize, I'd fly from the Municipal airport. The oneway fare is about US$35.00, as opposed to $63.00 from BZE. If you're flying in from the US, I don't consider it worth the hassle to transfer my bags and myself a couple more times to save the dollars.
We just fly from BZE. It's just too easy. Go through immigration, claim your bags, clear customs and walk 30 or so feet to the Tropic Air counter and recheck your bags. Go through security (there's never a line) and you'll be ready to wait for your flight. Usually you won't have to wait very long.
If you decide to take the water taxi, it's about a $25.00 cab ride to the water taxi terminal. I was just talking to some people today who hit some rough weather, and the water taxi ride was an hour and forty-five minutes.
