Exchanging USD for Pesos in Buenos Aires
Dear fellow travelers,
Have you found the exchange rates to be better in the U.S. or in Buenos Aires? I'm going in a few weeks and would like to change money here if possible. However my bank (not suprisingly) wants to only give me a rate of 2.8, which is lower than what the true rate of 3.12 is because of all of the fees involved.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
DKG50

This question has been answered over and over many times, both here and in other Argentina travel forums.
The answer is: change in BA and check the rate on http://www.dolarhoy.com/
It should be at least between 3,05 and 3,09 pesos per dollar.
Do NOT change at a place called GLOBAL EXCHANGE, prominently present in most of our airports.
The ATMs give a good rate of exchange. You can also change at the Banco de la Nación, in our international airport.
Ask for as much change as they'll give you and have a great time in our country.
