Hotel Everest is a good hotel. It's barely one block from the beach, and also from the Ceasar Park, which is the finest and most expensive hotel in Ipanema. The neighborhood is interesting, you'll be close to many restaurants, H. Stern and Amsterdam Sauer jewelry stores, a supermarket ( barely two blocks from the hotel), newstands, drugstores, and the finest Ipanema boutiques.
The hotel isn't new, but it is well kept. I haven't stayed there, since I live in Rio, but the facade seems in good conditions, as do the lobby, and I've always heard nice comments on the Everest and its staff.
Regards,
Surlok

Alda,
You can browse the hotel at:
http://www.everest.com.br/
Is the one you booked the Everest itself, or the Everest park? They are very close to each other, one is at Prudente de Morais, the other at maria Quiteria. The Everest hotel is a four stars and has a rof top pool, the Park is a three stars, without a pool, but I think that the Park guests are allowed to use the facilities of the sister hotel.
