Dominical Lodging Options
Hello- We are planning to spend approx. 3 nights in Dominical end May/early June. We are planning to surf, well mostly my husband will be surfing and I will be continuing to learn
We will have a car, but would prefer to be able to walk to/from the beach for surfing. Any lodging recommendations? Villas Rio Mar looks nice and the web site says it's within walking distance to the beach, but is there surfing at this beach? How about Hotel Diuwak or Roca Verde? Both seem to be right near the beach in town. Pacific Edge sounds great, but my understanding is that you cannot walk to the beach. Also, Hacienda Baru sounds lovely and is near the beach, but is there surfing? Thanks so much for your help.

Hello-We will be in Dominical Feb.23-25, staying at the Coconut Grove outside of town, then we are going to check out the Tree of Life tour. I posted a message if anyone has been on the trek and have had no replies, but found out that my daughters math teacher spent some time there and raved about it so off we go! He also said to eat at Jazzy's. I'll post a trip report when we return.

Villa Rio is a more touristy place - but within walking distance to the beach. Dominical is definitely a surfers town. You can rent surfboards & get lessons. Beach area is a bit strewn with trash. Hacienda Baru - very nice more remote - individual cabinas - trails and inexpensive restaurants. They provide access to surfing lessons, and all other type tours. I would recommend the Ballenca Whale, Dolphin, snorkling tour. Swam with 14-15 dolphins and saw a Female & baby humpback whale. Also the La Pascela restaurant just outside of Dominical is excellent. The cabins are called Cabinas Punta Dominical. They have 4 cabins up on a hillside with beautiful views. No real access to beach, we drove (5 mins) to Dominical to use that beach.

Charann....we are staying in a beachhouse outside of Dominical the first week in April. How did you hook up w/ the Ballenca Dolphin,Whale & snorkeling tour? We will have a car..how long does the trip take and where did you snorkle? Cano Island seems far away but maybe not when you are in a boat. Any other restaurant recommendations? Thanks for any suggestions. I was worried about staying in Dominical vs. MA, but the house is really great and we are going to the OSA penninsula after Dominical so I will have my rainforest experience there.....Lori
