HELP is infamous if you want to pick up prostitutes. So go there if that is what you are looking for. Smart travelers go elsewhere.

Hey X, why don't you show us how smart you are even though it is very obvious and tell us where these smart people like you go. Please share your wealth with us dumb travellers.

I live in rio and i'm sure that r better discos than help (lots of gays and prostitutes). There r many good interesting places like Nuth, Hard Rock Cafe, Downtown, Night and Day, Lapa... But anyway, u can have fun at any place if u have good friends around. Any info u want just ask by e-mail, it will be a pleasure to help.

Hey Cadu, why would gays go to HELP? This makes no sense at all. Yes it is true that women from all over Brasil will go to HELP to find tourist men on holiday and by mutual agreement each one of them will wlak away with what they want. but gays ? Never, I have never seen a gay man in Help in all my years going there and they have been many. There is just no reason for a gay man to go into HELP. Is he going to contract the services of one of the garotas? Stop your baloney.

Well, I am from Rio, I have been living here for my entire life. What can I say about the HELP disco? 1. If you want to go to a place crowded with prostitutes and meet only tourists, that's THE PLACE. 2. If you want to go to places where local people and "other kind" of tourists go, there a thousand of choices. Lapa is a nice neighboorhood with many samba, chorinho, alternative, hip hop, etc clubs. If you want something more alternative, try "Casa da Matriz" in the Botafogo neighboorhood, or the "Loud!" party at Downtown. Other nice discos: Nuth, Hard Rock Cafe (yes, they got a disco at night), Dama de Ferro, etc.
Just keep in mind: only male tourists hunting prostitutes go to the HELP disco.

Lets clarify something here for Ricardo who lives in Brazil. First of all all the women in HELP are Brazilian and a good portion of the men are Brazilian also, maybe between 40 to 50%. So the actual amount of tourists in HELP might amount to about 25% the rest are all Brazilian.

I agree with Ricardo. All the places he mentioned r excellent. Don't go to Help unless u wanna meet prostitutes. Lapa is great, so r Nuth and Downtown. Joaquim, don't u think there r better places to visit here?

Joaquim, I am afraid you are wrong on your math. Since EVERY WOMAN who goes to the HELP disco is a prostitute, and according to you at least 40-50% of men there are brazilian (I must be living in another city, cos' I don't know not even a friend of mine who has been there), at least 50-60% of the "real visitors" are tourists.
An advice to everyone else: do you know those places made for tourists? That kind of place which carry the stereotype of the city/country you are visiting and are made only for tourists feel like they are in a real exotic/unique place? That's HELP! If you think Brazil is a jungle, there are snakes in Rio's streets, that's the right place for you. But if you know Rio is the 2nd largest city in Brazil (the 5th largest country in the world), with around 7 million people living there, lot of clubs, museums, etc... forget about HELP.
Note to the purists: I am not saying that Rio is a rich city. But it is far away from being exotic like you are used to see in movies like "Blame it on Rio".

Well OK that explains it, since you have not been inside HELP and no one you know has been inside then it would be impossible for you to know what is going on in there. I will also add one additional piece of information and this may blow your mind but not all the women inside HELP are Brazilian working girls, I have met many women who are tourists or flight attendants who are there just to enjoy the music without having to travel to one of the clubs you all have mentioned because it is in such a good location. Oh and one more thing all those clubs you mentioned other than HELP well I know for sure that Brazilian working girls frequent them too, HELP shouldn't get all the credit.

Is this guy Joaquim the owner of the so mentioned disco?
Joaquim: I live in Sao Paulo and I go to Rio several times a month. I have been to almost every other nightclub mentioned by Ricardo and I can assure you there are no working girls there. But Help... oh Help! How could you meet a girl there without paying a buck?
