CR - Palo Verde or Cano Negro

Which is the better tour for bird and wildlife viewing. I read about these in the fodors Costa Rica 2007, and they seemed to prefer Palo Verde. I will be staying in Playa Flamingo with a rental car and it looks like a stratight forward drive over to Palo Verde. I am also staying to La Fortuna for a few nights, so could do a tour to Cano Negro. Main issue is I don't have a lot of time in Arenal area and want to do zip lines, hanging bridges, hike etc. and Cano Negro is a full day tour. Thanks.

Despite having spent many weeks in the Flamingo area, we've never been to Palo Verde. Had friends who were there last month and they loved it. But then they hadn't been to Cano Negro. Cano Negro is probably a longer tour, but it was just superb. By the way, we'll do Palo Verde as well one of these days!

Is Cano Negro worth visiting in mid-April? I've been reading that it is less impressive during the dry season, but April is a shoulder month, so it's hard to determine what it's going to be like then.
