Yea Accuweather has it listed under Playa Manuel Antonio, Puntarenas. Highs range from about 86-96 for highs during the day; lows are usually in the 70s at night. It's always been hot and humid when we've been there.

We've used Carlos Bogarin with Destinos Encantados, and he was great. You can also hire a driver through AOL when you book your room. Carlos is fluent in English. Some drivers aren't. You could contact both to get an idea of pricing. AOL is off a long bumpy road. I think you'll really like the Smithsonian room.

Three hours is the standard rec. for international flights for a lot of airlines. The lines can be long at SJO; we've only needed the three hours once. Also you have to pay a departure tax of around thirty dollars to leave Costa Rica. A lot of airlines include it in the ticket now, but make sure yours does. If not you'll have to wait in line to pay the tax.

AOL arranged a private driver from SJO to AOL, for 190. They also arranged a shuttle ride from AOL to Parador for 57. It leaves at 730 AM or so. Given that it is a long drive it made more sense to leave in the morning than the afternoon because in it then I’d arrive after dark.
on my last day my flight is around 4 PM or so. I probably could take a shuttle which would be cheaper, but given that I would have all day to travel would it make sense to get a private driver and stop somewhere along the way back to the airport? Or is it silly to contemplate that given how long it’s gonna take to get there.

Is it the Interbus shuttle? That's pretty popular. You could do a boat tour on the Rio Tarcoles on your last day if you got an early enough start. Jose's Crocodile Tour is good. Just make sure you're at the airport three hours before your flight.

tonight I pack as tomorrow I have to leave the house NLT 5 AM!
I think I actually can achieve a two-item carryon, unless they look at item 2 (a soft sided Lo and Sons weekend bag) and tell me I can't do both. I can hide my purse inside the bag during boarding so technically it is just two items. I am not a carryon only person so if I can pull this off, go me!
I am taking only sundresses (one for each day plus a few spares), three pairs of sneakers (in case it rains), two sandals, the jeans and long sleeved shirt/jean jacket/rain shell on the plane, leggings/yoga pants, some hiking Tees, rash guard /sun protection hoodie, swimsuit. and of course electronics and makeup/sunscreen and bug wipes. I think that is it...

The weather report almost always says rain, but it's not always accurate. One of our guides said complaining about rain in Costa Rica is like complaining about snow in Aspen lol. It is the rain forest. Lots of eye rolls from the tourists for that comment! Hope you get some sunshine but have fun either way.
