Costa Rica
We are trying to plan a last minute vacation to Costa Rica next month with our kids (16, 13, and 10, all boys). We've gotten many recommendations to stay in Manuel Antonio for the week- we'd prefer not to move around. Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel? Friends have suggested Buena Vista, Si Como No, and Arenas del Mar....our kids would like a place with a bit more activity (not isolated or too quiet)... It seems like there are plenty of activities in the area. Can anyone offer some recommendations on the nicest hotel to stay in?

Buena Vista Villas and Si Como No are both very popular with families. You can check them out on tripadvisor.com to see pictures and read reviews and see which one suits your needs better - do they both have availability? That might be a good place to start.
Si Como No has 2 restaurants on site, and separate kid and adult pools, also a movie theater. BVV has its own beach out front.

We just got back from Costa Rica and stayed in a Casa at Buena Vista Villas. Adults and children alike (all ages) loved it. The casas have large balconies. Ours had a wonderful view, particularly at sunset. There is a private beach with lounge chairs and umbrellas, plus boogies boards and kayaks for guests' use. There are several pools and a restaurant. Monkeys were widespread on the property, birds were abundant, and we also saw a couple of sloths. The staff was also great. We really enjoyed our stay there. I highly recommend it.

We spent a week last Aug at Si Como No (with 2 teenagers) and loved it. It was also a last minute trip. Since it was rainy season we got a great deal on the junior suites - got 2 next to each other. All of us liked the 2 pools: 1 for families and 1 for 18 and over (both had swim up bars). Food was excellent, and breakfast buffet very good. Hotel staff was great. Helped us arrange all of our tours (we didn't make up our minds until we got there).
Had free shuttle to the beaches and Park; ran about every hour or so. Lots to do in the area and plenty of nice restaurants nearby. BTW - wife and the girls went to the spa on site and said it was one of the best they'd been to (and they've been to LOTS of them).
Would certainly recommend it.
