Cancun Ritz Carlton Club Room

Is the extra $100 worth it to upgrade to a club room at the Ritz Carlton Cancun? Their web site states you receive five meal presentation, beverages and additional amenities. Appreciate any comments or advice.

BP - we just returned from a visit to the ritz - club level room. 2 adults/ 2kids. For us it was DEFINITELY worth it! The food was great! The variety was excellent, and the service was great as well. Unless you have a ravenous (sp?) appetite - the food presentations will suffice for everything except dinner. Drinks are also included. My husband especially liked the late night grand marnier & champagne options. Obviously, the cost/benefit decision is different if you are traveling alone.

Robin,
Thanks a ton for the information. If you have time, any additional insights are appreciated. We also have two children. How was the room, pool and beach? Did your kids have fun? Did the kids enjoy the meal presentations? Any suggestions regarding day trips your family enjoyed?

BP,
My kids (15 & 7) enjoyed the food! There were enough choices I think to satisfy most tastes ... but there are no hamburgers/french fries/pizza options ... the room was very nice - particularly if you get an oceanfront. I thought the pool was great (quiet) ... the beach & water were beautiful - but the waves were pretty strong - the kids cannot go to far out because of the undertow. I most enjoyed not dealing with crowds and the attentive service. The only tour we took was to chichen itza (mayan ruins) - (the older teen enjoyed it, the 7 year old endured it!) i did hear from other guests that the isla mujeres trip is good, and that xcaret is great for kids .
HAVE FUN!

Robin-
I see that you stayed at the Ritz Carlton and mentioned that you and your family went to Chichen Itza. We are planning on doing the same with our family. How did you visit the ruins - by tour bus or private guide? I spoke to the concierge on the club floor, he said that to get a private driver for the day to Chichen Itza for 7 people is $500! I think that's really pricey. I had heard that someone else hired a driver at the Ritz and it was only $250 or so for the day. What was your experience (what was the tour company name if you did that)? Thanks for your help.
