Blackbird Caye Resort?

I'm looking for information / comments on Blackbird Caye Resort. Their website does not provide many details (ie. how many rooms there are, is there a beach in front of the resort, etc., how old the resort is). What type of resort is it, mid-range or upscale? Also, we will be in Belize at the end of July - should there be a tropical storm (God forbid!), how easy and quick would it be to get from Turneffe islands back to the mainland? Any info would be appreciated.

Just found out that Blackbird is sold out the week I'll be in Belize. What about Turneffe Island Lodge or Turneffe Flats? Any advice? Which one would be the best choice?
Thanks.

I just spent a long weekend there last month and loved it. What impressed me most is that BB Caye is a larger island with nmore diversity than most others, with a larger variety of trees, birds and creatures that other similiar islands don't have. They haev 12 12 cabanas, beach in front and all around the island, meals are plentiful and delicious, stafff is friendly and helpful and dive gear, staff and boats are top notch. They specialize in diving and fishing, but offer snorkel packages as well. They offer 3, 4 and 7 nts packgs. It's 60-90 min boat ride from Belize City and they are in comminucation with the mainland and would know from satelitte pix days in advance if a storm would threatne the area.

Katie Valk
Belize

Manta is also sold out that same week. Other than the 2 Turneffe resorts, are there any others that I've missed (excluding Lighthouse Resort -also full). Turneffe Island Lodge seems to be rather pricey compared to Turneffe Flats - is it more luxurious and worth the extra $$$?
